TEACHING

Kurt has taught writing at New York University, Gotham Writer Workshop, and occasionally elsewhere under his Bananafish brand.  He has also taught and coached in the US and abroad for institutions including ACDI/VOCA, a client of USAID.

He is founder of the Lacawac Artists Residency, centered at a historic lodge and buildings on over 500 acres of protected wilderness near Lake Ariel, Pennsylvania.

Kurt’s teaching approach emphasizes student participation and a holistic approach to creativity. In addition to craft, attention is brought to the daily practice of writing; such as interacting with other writers, finding time and place, courting the muse, and establishing boundaries.
